  • Weekly Saturday Morning Ride

The Saturday Morning Ride is an inclusive, moderately paced (16.5-18 mph), longer than usual, no-drop ride. We’re not setting records, here—we’re just out to enjoy our bikes in the morning. Consider us the Sunday Drive of the weekly ride schedule. We ride a different route/mileage each week (35-65 miles), and there are usually short cuts for the longer routes. You can find our more common rides in the Route Library.

Start time is typically 8:00 but that can vary to allow for temperature or weather (we frequently start the season earlier and end later than other weekly rides). Always check the ride posting on the SMR Blog or Club Strava Page for each Saturday.

Ride leaves from the Radio Tower Parking Lot behind 15 Baxter Blvd. in Portland adjacent to the Back Cove Hannaford.

  • Annual Memorial Day / White Mountain Ride

The annual Memorial Day Ride follows an 80-82 mile route through the White Mountains of New Hampshire and features epic climbs and stunning views. Total elevation gain is approximately 5,300 feet.

The Memorial Day Ride is a real Club favorite and it’s not uncommon for us to have 20-30 riders. Riders run the course at their own pace with effective A, B, C groups forming organically.

We meet up at 8:30am at Weston’s Beach on the Saco River on Rt. 113 just West of downtown Fryeburg, Maine. The ride rolls at 9:00am.

Partial sag support is generally provided.

After the ride many will take a refreshing swim in the Saco River at Weston’s Beach so consider bringing a bathing suit and towel.

  • Annual Merrymeeting Bay Metric Century

Date TBD, but generally the 2nd or 3rd Sunday in October.

Meets at Flight Deck Brewing in Brunswick. Click here for a map to Flight Deck.

The route circumnavigates Merrymeeting Bay and the confluence of the Androscoggin and Kennebec Rivers along peaceful, rolling roads and beautiful fall colors are typically in full blaze.

As part it’s long tradition, the rides makes a rest stop along the river at Annabella’s Cafe and Bakery.

The mid-point of the ride climbs and descends the famed Blinn Hill. A contingent of riders will generally skip Blinn Hill so that’s always an option on a day when you, “don’t have the legs” for the climb.

Post-ride lunch and beverages are enjoyed after the ride back at Flight Deck .

Merrymeeting is one of the most popular and well attended of Forest City Cycling’s annual rides each year so don’t miss it!

  • Oxbow Metric+

    October 28, 2023.

    2024 Date TBD.

The annual Oxbow Metric+ Ride starts and finishes at the Oxbow Beer Garden in Oxford (click for directions).

Ride route is HERE on Strava.

This ride is self supported. Please carpool if you can, and park at the far end of the parking lot so we don't take too many spots away from the beer garden while we're out riding.

Fall colors are always on offer and riders will generally break into various paced groups.

Remember to bring warm layers if you plan to stay for the outdoor past-ride gathering back at Oxbow Brewing where we’ll enjoy food and beverages around the fire.
